Our Story

Hidden Beneath
History

1904 → 2026

Beneath the historic walls of the 1904 Carnegie library, a new experience took shape — one that feels as though it’s been there all along.

The Archive Lounge is more than a bar. It’s an intimate, dim-lit speakeasy designed to transport you into a different era — tucked below the main level of The Library Historic Hotel, in the quietest, oldest part of the building, where the library’s original archives once lived.

The vision was never to create something flashy — it was to create something felt. John and Shannon approached the space with intention, focusing on warmth, texture, and authenticity. Every detail reflects the building’s past while elevating it into a refined, modern experience.

The Design

Warmth, Texture, Authenticity

A marbled checkerboard floor grounds the space with classic character. Rich leather lounge seating and restored library chairs invite you to settle in and stay awhile. The lighting is soft and intentional — never harsh — casting a warm glow that naturally slows everything down.

It’s the kind of place where time stretches, conversations deepen, and the outside world fades away.

The Centerpiece

A One-of-a-Kind Bar

At the heart of the lounge sits a bar unlike any other. The front paneling is crafted from the building’s restored vintage radiators, finished in a subtle gold tone that adds both texture and history.

It’s not just a design choice — it’s a statement. A way of preserving original elements while reimagining them into something entirely new. Paired with elegant finishes, the bar becomes both focal point and piece of art.

“We wanted it to feel like it’s always been here — you just happened to discover it.”

The Experience

Quiet Luxury, Poured Slowly

Soft vintage music fills the background — present enough to shape the mood, never overpowering. A glass of wine or a carefully crafted cocktail in an environment that feels both elevated and effortlessly comfortable.

For hotel guests, it’s a destination within the destination. For the community, something rare: a space deeply rooted in history, yet entirely new. Hidden just below the surface — built on atmosphere, detail, and intention.
